Engagement photo shoot during pandemia

Is it a good idea to book your engagement photo shoot during pandemia?

Well, this 2020 is almost gone and no one can deny their plans has changed. Some couples had to take the hard decision to cancel their destination wedding in Punta Cana, others had to posponed and change their big day not one, but multiple times, or all the wedding planning just decreased significantly.

For us, luckily, everything is returning to the ‘normality’. We already had three wedding celebrations since Dominican Republic re-opened their borders and we are booking several more for next year, but we must say that the conditions and the scenery is not the same, they had big changes. But, don’t worry, these changes are for good.

So, if you’re engaged and you are planning to visit Dominican Republic on the next weeks or months, maybe you could consider booking an engagement photo-session during your visit.

Holiday season is always a busy season in this island, all inclusive resorts were crowded and it was pretty impossible to get a picture without people around. Now, even when most hotels are open again, they look like a boutique hotels. The pools and the beaches are empty compared with last year. So, from a photography perspective, this is very good thing. You only have to choose the right time (sunrise and sunset are the best) for your photo session and it will look like you are in a private beach for just you and your other half.

Also, you can use some of these pictures to do your ‘save the date’ cards. If you have something special in mind for location, set up or props, let us know, we are pretty open and actually, we love inspirational ideas to photograph.

Finally, if your wedding plans involve Dominican Republic as your destination wedding and you already hired your wedding photographer, this is a good opportunity to meet him / her and they’ll take note of how you interact with each other, your personalities and even your quirks. Also, we recommend taking engagement pics sooner rather than later so you’re not stressing to get them done when you’re in full-on wedding planning mode.
