Wedding anniversary photo shoot in Macao Beach – Shauna & Brandon

It is not a secret that Dominican Republic is not only a worldwide destination for weddings, but it’s also one of the favorite places to have a honeymoon or to celebrate some special moments like a wedding anniversary.

Shauna & Brandon said #ido ten years ago and they thought that it would be nice to plan a giveaway to celebrate their wedding anniversary. They stayed at Excellence El Carmen, a luxury complex “adults only”, located in Uvero Alto, about 45’ from the Punta Cana International Airport. It is a new all inclusive resort with a pretty and modern infrastructure, so if you are looking for a Caribbean style resort, this couldn’t be the best option for you. We highly recommend this resort for couples who are looking for a unique experience mixed with luxury.
Also, to be honest, the beach is not the best one in the area, specially due to sargazo that appears in some months of the year (during April – August), but it has beautiful sunrise views because the sun rises from the sea.

When Shauna contacted us, she wanted romantic pictures but she said they are not “early birds” so, sunrise was not an option. We picked them up from the resort and drove about 20’ to Macao Beach. We had the perfect timing for their pictures at the sunset, with the sun hiding behind the palm trees.

At this point, maybe you are asking why we didn’t take the pictures inside the resort. The reason is pretty simple, ALL the resorts charge a vendor fee if you want to hire an external company to get in and provide their services into the hotel. In this case, if Shauna & Brandon would have decided to have their wedding anniversary there, they would have had to pay that extra cost for having us as their photographers. Vendor fees varies depending on the resort. For that reason, we always recommend going for another location.

Is it safe for the tourists to go outside the resort? Well, of course, the Dominican Republic, and especially Punta Cana area is not known for crimes, robberies or violence cases, so yes, we can say that it is pretty safe to explore outside your resort. Obviously, we always recommend taking cabs or transfers from the resort or look for some good reviews of transportation companies. As your photographers and guides, we will provide you with our own transportation free of charge.

So, Shauna & Brandon agreed to go to Macao Beach for their pictures. They were pretty kind people and almost immediately fell in love with the beauty of the beach.
