Tips to Make the Most of the Time you Have on your Wedding Day

Dreams Punta Cana / Ashley & Willie

Ashley & Willie decided to have their wedding ceremony at 6.00pm during summer in Punta Cana. They thought a ceremony by sunset would be very romantic and ideal. At first it sounds like a great idea and awesome for pictures and although the resulting images of ceremonies at that time are stunning, in reality those are the last good pictures of the day since the daylight is gone after sunset. So, our first impressions regarding that decision: “It’s a bad idea”. But then, we worked together to find the best timeline for that particular date to be able to capture all their memories in time and form. How did we do that? With a lot of communication and organisation.

So, if you are planning to have a late wedding ceremony, please consider some of these recommendations.

The couple decided to have their wedding in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic because most of Willy’s close family lives there. They chose Dreams Punta Cana because they fell in love with the garden gazebo (after you see the gazebo, you’ll be in loved with it too). It’s just gorgeous with or without any decoration. They immediately knew that was where they wanted to celebrate their wedding ceremony. Ashley & Willie were mostly concerned about how hot it will be that day during the ceremony, so they decided to have all their pictures before.

So, we suggested to have a “first look” and the couple agreed with the idea so, by 3.00pm we started with the “getting pictures” for bride and groom simultaneously. The bride had the bridal suite for her preparation, so at this point, having 2 photographers is a pretty good idea. We took 2 hours with their getting ready pictures -including some pictures at the spa of the hotel, decor and set up of the wedding gazebo.

The first look only took a few minutes, but then, we had the time to continue with the photo session around the property. Luckily, the resort is not that big, so we walked, taking pictures with gardens and beach backgrounds. By the time we were done with the couple, we continued with the group and family shots, because by that moment, all the guests were ready to start with the wedding ceremony by the gazebo.

We always recommend doing a list with all the names of the guests you want pictures of, so nobody is missed and of course, you will have to assign a person who will be in charge of this list. Delegating to the right people is key! Believe us, this suggestion allows us to capture all the group pictures as fast as possible.

When you are done with all those pictures, after your ceremony, you will have plenty of time to share with your friends and family without the hurry.
