Emy & TJ
Dominican style wedding in Dreams Onyx / Emy & TJ
Since Emy is from Dominican Republic, born and raised in the coast surrounded by “sol, playa y arena” her dream was always to have her wedding at the beach. “Just to praise my roots as a proud Caribbean girl” she said.
GGG: How did your love story with TJ started?
E: “After moving to NY, meeting TJ was a blessing to my life. We have been together for 5 1/2 years.
We started talking through “match.com” just texting and the conversation was going well at the beginning like usual. We chatted for about a week or so. Then it became a little distant and I stopped chatting with him. Then a month later I met him in the street, I wasn’t pretty sure if he was the guy who I met with the app, so instead to stop him, I just opened my app and messaged him. Just to let him know I just saw him. Then, hours passed and we started talking again. Only this time, we actually exchanged phone numbers and began talking more.
Then comes the fun part of this white guy coming along with a Dominican woman lol – at that time I was thinking this is going to be fun!!
I introduced him to my family and friend and it was great! they liked him a lot instantly. He loved our food (now he has a Dominican stomach).
GGG: How was your wedding planning at Dreams Onyx?
E: “After 3 months of looking for a venue, we were blessed with finding Dreams Onyx Resort & Spa. It was the best decision ever! We went on a site inspection visit to the hotel in July 2021 and fell in love with the place.
After meeting our wedding coordinators (they are amazing hard working ladies) we were sure we chose right.
Months of communications, emails, texts, phone calls…. until the final day came. I can’t thank them enough for their support and dedication through our journey of making our wedding day perfect in every step of the way. Honestly, the only con we had was the exuberant vendor fee from the hotel, but there was nothing we can do about it if we wanted to keep our photo team with us, otherwise, our journey was nice and smooth.
GGG: Did you personalize your wedding celebration in some aspect?
E: “Yes, I choose the wedding theme “Orchid Purple” in honor to my mother’s love for flowers (she has her garden full with orchids of any kind, you name it). So, I decided that my bouquet was to be made with orchids from her garden so she brought them from a Dominican city called Nagua and the florist put them together in the nicest bouquet.”
GGG: How was your experience with us?
E: “Being able to find you (GGGPHOTO) was a blessing to us. I couldn’t be more grateful for your excellent job and dedication. It was such a relief knowing that our memories will be taken care of by such professional people like you guys”
Congrats Mr. & Mrs. Lerch, we wish you the best! You deserve it!
