Fancy destination wedding at Secrets Capcana / Ingrid & Jon

Jon and Ingrid met on a dating app in late 2018. After being together for six years, Jon held off on proposing until Ingrid finished law school and passed the bar. They got engaged in September 2022. Throughout their journey, they’ve grown in love and pushed each other to become better versions of themselves.

GGG: Tell us about your wedding planning journey. How did you decide on tying the knot, especially here?

“I always knew I wanted a destination wedding. We have been to Punta Cana several times and it is beautiful. We both envisioned getting married on a beautiful beach, and the plus is a vacation with our closest family and friends. We knew we wanted something intimate and small,” says Ingrid.

Like many couples planning a destination wedding, they saw it as an opportunity to combine their celebration with a holiday. Secrets Cap Cana was the perfect place for this.

Secrets Cap Cana is a sophisticated, adults-only hideaway located in the exclusive gated community of Cap Cana. Facing the clear Caribbean Sea along the white sands of the exclusive Juanillo Beach, it’s an idyllic spot for a wedding.

This was our first time shooting a wedding at Secrets Cap Cana, and we were extra excited. Jon & Ingrid booked our services just one month before their wedding, but we connected instantly. After completing our booking process, we set up a video call to discuss all the details.

Their ceremony was set for 5:00 pm. Considering it was winter, we suggested doing a first look. This turned out to be a smart decision, as it not only provided an emotional moment for them but also allowed us to take advantage of the time to do their couple photo shoot before the ceremony.

We captured very romantic portraits of the newlyweds during the golden hour before their amazing reception. Even without a particular theme, the guests’ pastel-colored attire added a very fancy style to the event.
