Nicole & Miguel
Glamorous beach wedding at Jellyfish / Nicole & Miguel
“We started talking through a mutual friend and after a few months, we went on our first date – just around Christmas 2007” and just like that, the love story of Nicole & Miguel began.
“After just shy of 7 years together (but really 13), we decided to tackle a major milestone. HE DID IT! FINALLY! A proposal finally happened – in front of all of our loved ones! It was magical and perfect and a complete surprise to the now bride-to-be’ remember Nicole with a big smile.
GGG: Guys, how was your wedding planning in Punta Cana?
Nicole: “Wedding planning from another country is stressful (wouldn’t recommend lol just kidding..kinda) but it did have its added complexities and hurdles. Not for the faint of heart. We did a lot of research on wedding planners, travel agencies, venues, resorts, etc. A LOT. Ultimately, we decided that being able to choose our vendors was a top priority for us to be able to realize our full vision for our wedding so that’s why we went off resort”
GGG: You mentioned something really important when you are having a destination wedding, the idea to personalize and materialize your celebration as you wish.
Nicole: Well, working with Jellyfish Restaurant was…. Interesting. Never a dull moment, that’s for sure. The experience was definitely challenging but I will say that they do know how to interpret a couple’s vision and make it a reality. It was hard to plan everything especially over phone and emails but they do know their stuff. There was added stress throughout the process and during the day that could’ve been avoided with better communication and management. But overall, we couldn’t have had almost the wedding of our dreams without them.
Miguel: “Nicole always dreamed of a beach wedding and her very initial vision was for a ceremony on the beach and the reception overlooking the water -Jellyfish was the best option for that. So overall it was a great day and very memorable. You guys got to see me cry three times in one day: which would make it a grand total of five times that I’ve cried in my life. So I think we should celebrate that too. Lol”
GGG: please, Nicole, tell us a little bit more about your wedding theme…
Nicole: “The theme and decor was very thoughtful – I wanted to highlight the natural beauty of the beach setting, without being too cliche or obvious (seashells, etc). So I decided on a simple elegance vibe. I went with dark green to match the palm trees, white to keep it light and fresh, gold touches to add a touch of glamour and sophistication, and wooden accents for an effortless rustic touch that resembled the palm trunks. I wanted to keep the decoration simple but still sophisticated which is why all the florals were white with greenery”
Congrats Mr & Mrs Mejia, you gave us a memorable wedding celebration.
